MicroSurfer Startup Dialog

Important: In order for your browser to display the Web pages that MicroSurfer pre-caches, your browser settings must be correctly configured.  Each time MicroSurfer starts it checks your browser settings; if they are not set correctly or if the settings could not be found, the MicroSurfer Startup Dialog is displayed.

The appearance of the MicroSurfer Startup Dialog is a warning that your browser is not correctly configured to use its cache with MicroSurfer or that your browser is in off-line mode preventing MicroSurfer from downloading Web pages.

If you use MicroSurfer when your browser is not configured to use its cache, your browser will go to the Internet every time it displays a page, even when the page is already cached on your hard drive.

If you are using Internet Explorer you can have MicroSurfer change your browser settings automatically.  To do this, make sure all browser windows are closed and click the Ok button.  If you do not want MicroSurfer to change you browser settings, click the Cancel button.  If you are using Netscape, you must change your browser settings manually.

For instructions on how to configure your browser manually or change your default browser, see "Configuring Your Browser to Support MicroSurfer Caching";

We recommend that you let MicroSurfer delete unneeded files from your browser's cache each time MicroSurfer starts.  This ensures that MicroSurfer always downloads the most up-to-date version of Web pages, and that your hard disk is not cluttered with out-of-date Web pages.  However, if you prefer MicroSurfer not clear your browser's cache when it starts, un-check the option Automatically Clear browser's cache on startup (recommended).

If you don't want to see the MicroSurfer Startup Dialog when your browser settings are incorrect or could not be found, un-check the option Warn me at start up if my browser settings are wrong (recommended).

Note: Use your browser's Refresh command to download the contents of a Web page if you suspect that its contents might have changed since the last time it was downloaded.
