To take advantage of MicroSurfer's link caching, the Preferences in Netscape Navigator 4 must be set correctly before you begin using MicroSurfer.
To set Netscape's caching options:
From the Netscape Edit menu, select Preferences.
In the Category list of the Preferences dialog, click on the plus sign ("+") next to "Advanced" to display its sub-items, then click on the sub-item "Cache".

Important: Make sure the option "Documents in cache are compared to documents on the network:" is set to "Never". If this option is not set correctly, Netscape will not display the pages that MicroSurfer downloaded, and instead will re-download them from the Internet each time they are displayed.
Increasing Cache Size in Netscape Navigator 4
We recommend that you increase the size of your browser's cache to allow MicroSurfer to cache more links in the same session. Keep your Memory Cache low (around 1,000 KB) and your Disk Cache high (anywhere from 8,000 KB-64,000 KB) for optimal performance. Make sure you have enough hard disk space to support your new cache size.
Note: When the option "Documents in cache are compared to documents on the network:" is set to "Never" and you browse to a Web page that is already in your browser's cache, the cached copy is displayed by your browser. Use your browser's "Refresh" button to re-download the page from the Internet if you suspect it has been updated since the last time you viewed it.
